We aren’t selling anything ourselves at the moment. Everything you can buy through FarmerKnowsNothing is sold on other companies’ well-known websites — we line the prices up in Compare Deals and send you to the seller, who takes the payment on their own secure checkout.
Who we are
The Balance Wheel LTD, trading as FarmerKnowsNothing, Registered office to be confirmed — farm-supply counter opening soon, is the data controller for personal data collected through this website.
What we collect
- Past orders — if you ordered from our own shop while it was open, the order record (name, address, email, phone) is kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require. We take no new orders while the shop is switched off.
- Community data — your username, forum posts, messages and profile details you choose to share.
- Reviews — if you review an auction site or marketplace, what you write and the rating you give, shown with your public username once a moderator has approved it.
- Farmers Unite listing — only if you choose to list your farm: the farm name, county or area, type of farm, how you farm, size band, description and website you enter, and the date you agreed. It is shown publicly only after a member of our team has approved it, and you can change or delete it at any time. We never show your address, phone number or email there.
- Enquiries — the contents of the contact form and your email address.
- Technical data — IP address and basic request logs, kept short-term for security and abuse prevention.
- Analytics — only if you accept our cookie notice, Google Analytics records the pages you view and basic device/browser details to help us understand site usage. Off by default; see our Cookie Policy.
Why, and our lawful basis
- To answer your enquiries and provide support — legitimate interests, and steps you ask us to take.
- To run the community and keep the site secure and free of abuse — legitimate interests.
- To show your farm in Farmers Unite — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by deleting your listing.
- To send marketing — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To understand how the site is used — your consent, given via the cookie notice, which you can withdraw at any time.
Sharing
We share data only with the IT providers needed to run the site, and where the law requires it. We do not sell personal data.
Links to other sites
Compare Deals sends you to other companies’ websites. When you click through, you leave our site and that site’s own privacy and cookie policies apply. We don’t pass your name or email address to them.
If you accept analytics cookies, usage data is also shared with Google (Google Analytics) as our data processor — see Google's Privacy Policy.
Your rights
You can ask for access, correction, deletion or portability of your data, or object to processing. Contact shop@farmerknowsnothing.com. You may also complain to the ICO.
